Capalino Insider: Q&A with Emil Lissauer, Principal, Agency Problem Solving

Emil Lissauer, Principal, Agency Problem Solving, Capalino

What do you specialize in at Capalino?
As a member of the Agency Problem Solving Team, I help people secure permits and approvals from City and State Agencies and/or Utilities.  My team helps clients from various industry sectors with projects across the five boroughs of NYC.

When you’re not in the office, where can we find you?
Taking my two sons to Governors Island for the day.  It’s a unique and special place considering its proximity to the concrete jungle we call home.

If you could have dinner with one legend, who would it be?
Sandy Koufax.  During his life he has epitomized class and excellence both on and off the field.  It would be great to hear his firsthand accounts of being a baseball player/celebrity from his era.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
Working on the Super Bowl XLVIII was pretty epic. Along with the NFL, we were able to construct a Super Bowl Village that spanned from Times Square to Herald Square on Broadway.  We placed some pretty significant infrastructure in the epicenter of the city all in the middle of the winter, as this was the first cold weather Superbowl in the modern era.  It was a truly unique experience in NYC, and lot of people worked really hard to make it happen.

What’s the biggest thing that excites you about coming to work every day?
I get to help people accomplish things in the City I love most.  I know that 20 years from now, things I help build or get approved are going to be an integral part of the fabric and culture of this City.  I love that I can say that I am a small part of the City’s progress.

If you could have any other job, what would it be?
Camp Owner.  Some of my favorite memories are from my days at Camp Wigwam in Harrison, Maine.
