When our client Dominion Management Company was searching for a new tenant for their building in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx, Capalino’s Director of Real Estate Services Tim Kucha was able to help. Tim worked with Dominion to find an ideal tenant for their property–a two-story, 23,000 square foot building. Located at 3200 Jerome Avenue, the property had been occupied by PS 51X, The Bronx New School.

3200 Jerome Avenue

The space at 3200 Jerome Avenue is suitable for a community educational facility and that is exactly what the not-for-profit organization Quality Service for the Autistic Community (QSAC) needed. QSAC provides direct services to more than 2,100 children and adults throughout New York City and Long Island and was looking to open up its first school in the Bronx.

According to QSAC’s Deputy Executive Director Lisa Veglia, “There is a significant need for school age autism services in The Bronx and we are thrilled to expand our services to that community. We currently have a number of children and staff traveling to our Whitestone Queens facility who will be transferred over to our new school, where we expect to enroll over 90 students.”

QSAC signed a ten year lease for 3200 Jerome Avenue, where it will offer Intensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classes–the most effective and innovative way to educate children on the autism spectrum.  The new school will serve children ages 5-21 years, providing enormous benefit to the autistic children and their families in The Bronx community. Moreover, it will create jobs for at least 60 staff members and clinicians, another perk for the borough.

A fire alarm system is currently being installed at QSAC’s new school and it is expected to open by the end of this year.
