Jeanne was one of 25 women who received City&State’s Above & Beyond award for exemplary leadership and civic contributions across the fields of business, organized labor, nonprofit, media and public service. The winners were chosen from several hundred nominations for their outstanding work. The gala and award ceremony took place at Pier A Harbor House on March 31, 2016. Remarks were made by Maya Wiley, Counsel to Mayor de Blasio.

“I would encourage young women to broaden their horizons and to have a diverse experience, because that helps them become good decision-makers,” said Jeanne, reflecting on lessons learned from her own experience working across many sectors throughout her career. Asked her advice for young women on overcoming adversity, she said “As a woman, I think you should forge ahead and continue to be resilient and work on the things that are important to you.”

Jeanne Mullgrav oversees Capalino’s Corporate Social Responsibility practice and previously served as Mayor Bloomberg’s Commissioner of the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). She has served on several nonprofit boards including the Bronx Children’s Museum, Susan G. Komen Greater NYC, and The Fund for Modern Courts.
