On World Aids Day, December 1, 2010, Capalino+Company was involved in coordinating one of the largest and most successful special events done in New York City for Hairdressers Against Aids (HAA) US Launch of the “Use Your Voice” Campaign. The firm helped secure permissions to have video booths in Times Square, Lincoln Center and 125th Street and arranged for government officials and other VIPs to speak at widely-covered press conference to announce the initiative.
The importance of planning for events like this is only the beginning as weather and other unforeseen obstacles often require instant strategic decisions and major event changes, requiring the kind of maneuvering which can only be executed by experienced consultants with longstanding relationships like those at Capalino. This event was no exception, however, due to our knowledge and relationships we were able to respond immediately and successfully to several changes required by bad weather.
The results of the HAA campaign developed by the L’Oreal Foundation, in partnership with the United Nations (UNESCO) and the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria (GBC) were quite significant; the personal stories and appeals recorded in the video booths throughout the City aided in creating the 160+ million media impressions on day 1 (goal was 110 million in Year 1).
