Food on a Grand Scale at Choice Atlantic

The Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn thuds to a halt at Atlantic Avenue; Prospect Heights starts a few blocks south. But now there is a storefront between gas stations and warehouses there that looks as if it were transported intact from Paris.
Choice Atlantic, its burgundy facade lettered à la Française, is a new food store owned by Thierry Cabigeos, who also owns Choice Market, a cafe selling baked goods on Lafayette Avenue, and Choice Greene, a well-stocked market that opened in December on Greene Avenue.
The homey new store, at 999 Atlantic Avenue (Grand Street), is actually the tip of a very sleek industrial iceberg — an enormous commissary kitchen where most of the prepared foods and packaged products that Mr. Cabigeos sells are made. The chef is Matt Hamilton, who has been at Belcourt in the East Village. The phone number is (718) 636-8996.
The next step will be another Choice Market, in Dumbo, at 108 Jay Street (York Street), in the spring.
