COMIX

Category: Real Estate Advisory
Subcategory: Zoning: Variances & Special Permits
Problem: In order to purchase property in the Meat-Packing District and legally operate a state-of-the-art comedy club, COMIX was required to secure a special permit from the New York City Board of Standard and Appeals to operate the rear portion of the club.
Strategy: Since BSA approval required Community Board review, we felt it was vital to secure a resolution from the Community Board supporting the project and worked with the client to engage the community in the design of the comedy club.
Result: Manhattan Community Board 4 passed a resolution in support of the BSA application and COMIX successfully secured approval of the permit. The club opened in 2006.
