Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced a tentative contract yesterday with two unions representing 2,800 workers and supervisors at the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service: Local 2507, representing emergency medical technicians and paramedics, and Local 3621, representing lieutenants and captains. The four-year agreement, retroactive to July 1, 2002, includes a $1,000 lump-sum payment and an 8 percent pay increase for members of the two locals, which are part of District Council 37 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The starting salary for newly hired technicians will be $27,295, down from $31,272; newly hired paramedics will be paid $37,346, down from $37,712.
